Local Rhetoric Poster Series

In a hybrid seminar/studio course under the instruction of Geoff Kaplan and Ignacio Valero, I used graphic design as an investigative device to navigate my position in the current social and political climate in San Francisco. Inspired by Guy Debord and the Situationists, the first poster deconstructs the notion of San Francisco's neighborhood boundaries, and more importantly, "personalities" as they are marketed to tourists. At the time I was working on this project there was a local election taking place in which Proposition F, a measure which would place tighter restrictions on home sharing, was a particularly hot-debated issue. As a second deconstructive exercise, I designed two posters that recontextualize the rhetorical strategies employed by the "No on Prop F" campaign.
